Noah Schultz is widely regarded as undoubtedly the best left handed pitching prospect in baseball, and for good reason. The 2022 1st rounder is an imposing figure on the mound, often drawing comparisons to Randy Johnson and Chris Sale. His fastball/slider combination is very Sale-esque as he’s a funky lefty with some deceptive cross-body action that gives left handed hitters nightmares. Schultz has progressed through Double-A Birmingham without skipping a beat. Since entering Chicago’s system in 2023, he has a 2.03 ERA, 2.60 FIP, 0.95 WHIP, and a 26.6 K-BB% over 115.1 innings. Among 35 pitchers in Chicago’s org with at least 100 innings, all of those marks are the best. Due to some injury, Schultz has yet to put together a full season’s worth of innings, so adjusting to a big league workload will be his main focus moving forward. There is no doubt that his stuff will play at the next level.
