Coming out of the 2024 draft as the highest selected high school player, Griffin’s elite athleticism and projection stood out, but he was still in need of some seasoning at the plate. His swing was long and could get out of sync, leading to concerns on how the hit tool would project. Griffin would quickly put that narrative to bed as he made his pro debut in 2025 with a revamped swing and approach, posting a .333/.415/.527 (.941 OPS) slash line with 21 home runs and a manageable 21.7 K% in 563 plate appearances between Low-A Bradenton, High-A Greensboro, and Double-A Altoona. His 21 home runs led all Minor League hitters under the age of 20, and he casually added 65 stolen bases making him one of 16 minor League hitters with at least 20 home runs and 20 steals. Among all hitters with at least 20 home runs, his 65 steals led the way, proving he is the most dangerous power-speed threat in the minors. Take his bat away, and Griffin is still an impact prospect. He is of course a burner on the bases, but his defensive value may even be better than his offensive value. He spent the majority of 2025 at shortstop where he was a plus defender, but can plug in at center field where he’s a plus-plus defender. If he can continue to play shortstop at a high level without sacrificing any offense, it’s likely he sticks there at the big league level, but a career as an elite center fielder is still not out of the question. Griffin is expected to make his MLB debut in 2026, but his chances of making the team out of camp are slim as he will likely get a few months worth of reps at Triple-A Indianapolis.
