If not for a thumb injury that sidelined him for the greater part of the second half of the season, Rodriguez was on a trajectory towards joining the big league club in Minnesota. The 21 year old outfielder raked at Double-A Wichita, posting a gaudy slash line of .298/.479/.621, good for an 1.100 OPS and a 203 wRC+ over 167 plate appearances. Minimum 150 plate appearances, he led all Double-A hitters in OBP, while his SLG, OPS, and wRC+ all ranked within the top three. When you combine his short amount of time spent at Low-A Fort Myers and Triple-A St. Paul, Rodriguez’s .459 OBP, 1.026 OPS, and 184 wRC+ all ranked within the top ten among all minor league hitters, minimum 200 plate appearances. Perhaps the most unique part of Rodriguez’s game is his ultra-patient approach at the plate. Rodriguez had a 31.7 swing% in 2024, compared to the Major League average of 47.8%. This has led to a massive amount of walks as he has posted a career BB% of 21.9. Since entering Minnesota’s system in 2021, that mark leads all minor league hitters. On top of the offensive prowess, Rodriguez has shown a plus glove and speed in center field where it is believed he can stick long term. He can certainly be a muti-tool threat at the big league level as soon as 2025.
